Reflections on the 91st CMEF: Innovating to Drive the Future of Healthcare

From April 8 to 11, 2025, our company was honored to participate in the 91st China International Medical Equipment (Spring) Fair (CMEF) held at the Shanghai National Convention and Exhibition Center. As the top event in the global medical device field, CMEF brought us unprecedented impact and profound insights.

I. Our company's exhibition achievements and strategic gains

We focus on displaying medical furniture products such as hospital beds, home care beds, Infant hospital bed, medical bedside cabinet, medical trolley, transfer chair, and rehabilitation nursing equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers.

Through this exhibition, we have collected effective needs from customers. High-end medical institutions pay more attention to design aesthetics and brands. For example, private hospitals and high-end clinics have strong demands for customized and environmentally friendly materials for multifunctional electric hospital beds and multifunctional manual hospital beds. Public hospitals pay more attention to the cost-effectiveness and durability of medical furniture such as hospital beds, bedside cabinet, and medical trolley. Many customers have proposed the idea of "integration of medical furniture with smart hospital systems", such as hospital beds, pediatric hospital bed, home care beds, delivery beds, infusion chairs, and other products embedded with equipment charging ports, data acquisition interfaces, etc., which provides a direction for our future product research and development.

II. Competition and cooperation

At the exhibition, we saw many excellent products from our peers, among which smart hospital beds, height-adjustable operating tables, and multifunctional over bed table attracted widespread attention. We observed the innovations of some competing products in space optimization (such as foldable infusion chairs, and detachable hospital beds) and aesthetic design (Nordic minimalist style). We felt the growing demand for "humanized design + IoT technology" in hospitals, such as nursing furniture that monitors patient vital signs through sensors. Some leading companies demonstrated the application of environmentally friendly materials (such as antibacterial coatings and recyclable metals) in products such as home care beds and infant incubator, reflecting the hospital's emphasis on sustainability and infection control. This echoes the global trend of LEED certification for medical buildings. These made us feel the fierce market competition. But at the same time, we also found many potential opportunities for cooperation. Through exchanges with other companies in the industry, we explored the possibility of technical complementarity and resource sharing, and we may be able to work together to promote the implementation of more innovative projects in the future.

III. Industry Challenges and Reflections

1. Intensified homogeneous competition

In the exhibition zone, some sub-sectors (such as wheelchairs, accompanying chairs, basic hospital beds, and crutches) are still dominated by price wars, which need to be solved through continuous innovation, improving product performance, and adding differentiated functions rather than price wars.

2. Policy compliance challenges

The "Medical Device Cybersecurity Guidelines" released by the National Medical Products Administration at the exhibition sparked heated discussions, and many companies reported that data compliance costs have increased. In the future, it is necessary to lay out a cybersecurity architecture that meets international standards in advance.

3. Impact of international exhibitors

German and Japanese exhibitors brought "minimally invasive surgical instruments" and "nanomaterial implants" to the exhibition. Their technological maturity and brand premium capabilities are worthy of comparison. Local companies must establish unique advantages in niche areas (such as rehabilitation assistive devices and home testing equipment).

The 91st CMEF is not only a stage for displaying achievements but also a weathervane for industry change. As an exhibitor, we are aware that the essence of the medical industry is "people-oriented," and technological innovation must serve clinical pain points and patient needs. In the future, we will continue to deepen our efforts in subdivided fields, take compliance, intelligence, and ecology as strategic fulcrums, and move forward steadily in the wave of medical technology.
